Born in Correggio (Reggio Emilia) in 1952, he got the... Born in Correggio (Reggio Emilia) in 1952, he got the degree in Choir Music and Choir Director at the Conservatory “Arrigo Boito” in Parma.
He attended courses of Music Analysis and Composition with Franco Donatoni, Aldo Clementi, Witold Lutoslawsky and André La Porte, and he won a scholarship of Gioventù Musicale d’Italia at Groznjan (Istria).
He teached Music Education from 1971 to 1984 at the Istituto Magistrale “San Tomaso D’Aquino” in Correggio (RE); he also teached Music Theory, Solfeggio and Dictate at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Achille Peri” in Reggio Emilia from 2002 to 2007. At present, he is chief of the Information Laboratory in the same Institute where he teaches Techniques of Recording and Music Information Technology.
Commissioner of Music Section at Siae in Rome (1995 – 2002). President of Orchestra and Choir “Città di Reggio Emilia”, Cultural Association “Ferruccio Tagliavini”.
He is author of various sacred and profane music, as well as symphonic and chamber music, among which the Mass “De Resurrectione Domini” and the Italian Mass played as worldwide première at the Music Accademy in Zagreb and at the Church of Santa Caterina (May 2001), the Ave Maria, played as worldwide première by Cecilia Gasdia (September 2000) in the Cathedral of Mestre and Monselice. He published various discs and held various concerts worldwide.
He won the 2° Composition Prize “Città di Savona” with the piece “Sequenza Zero” for solo flute (Novembre 2000). In Spring 2001 he received the Prize “Julije Bajamonti” for Music section during the International Music Festival in Spalato. He was part of the Jury in the International Festival of Choir of Città di Verona (April 2000), of Music International Festival “Città di Azzano Decimo” (September 2002), of National Contest for Musicians in Carpineti (2003, 2005, 2007, 2009). In January 2008 he was appointed as Member of Technical Commission of Music Elaboration SIAE in Rome for years 2008 – 2011.
In November 2008, he received the 3° Prize of Choir Composition “Città di Verona”. In April 2009 he was finalist at the International Contest of Composition called by the “London Schubert Players” in London: his piece “Foglie d’Autunno” will be played in a number of concerts in England and in Romania during 2009.
